Military Walls

There are a string of Second World War pillboxes strategically placed on the North Downs. They all face south on the side of the hills, and were intended to slow down the advance of the German invasion. Filled with macine guns and made of brick, they were never intended to halt the advance but simply to make it difficult for the German army to make progress to London.

They are still there and look like they are slowly sinking into the hills, being swallowed up by time.
